Accessibility statement
This statement applies to content published on the Nature Networks Toolbox web application.
This website is run by NatureScot. It is designed to be used by as many people as possible. For example, you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate the website using just a keyboard
- navigate the website using speech recognition software
- listen to the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand and used an off white background colour to aid readability.
How accessible this website is
This site produces zero errors using both Axe WCAG 2.2 A and Lighthouse automated accessibility testing but we are aware that these tests do not cover everything so we have also performed manual testing using voice over, keyboard navigation and screen readers.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
NatureScot is committed to making its websites accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018
Compliance status
This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard.
Non-accessible content
The content that is not accessible is outlined below with details of:
- where it fails the success criteria
- planned dates for when issues will be fixed
Issues are identified using Wave, Axe and lighthouse chrome extensions.
When we publish new content, we will make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
Wave has flagged 2 colour contrast issues but our manual testing shows they have sufficient contrast, we believe the colour gradient used confuses the automated test.
Disproportionate burden
We are not claiming that any of our accessibility issues are disproportionate to fix.
Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
All of the accessibility issues are within the scope of the accessibility regulations.
What we’re doing to improve accessibility
We use manual and automated accessibility testing to identify usability issues but ensuring compliance with accessibility standards is not foolproof due to the complexity of assistive technologies and nuances in users experiences and are therefore happy to make adjustments based on users personal experiences and feedback. We will continue to test and adjust the site to ensure it continues to be accessible to as wide a range of users as is possible.
