As outlined in the nature networks framework, Nature Networks require sustained and long-term funding that is accessible at all stages of delivery. This page highlights some of the available sources of funding that can be used to contribute to work on nature networks. More generally, natural capital and nature-based finance approaches are being developed with the view to harness responsible private investment for restoration. Relevant opportunities will be added as they emerge.

Including large-scale rural projects that help improve landscapes for people and nature by restoring habitats and celebrating the cultural traditions of the land.
- New support announced by the National Lottery Heritage Fund for local authorities and community organisations to improve access to green space within our urban neighbourhoods.
- The National Lottery Heritage Fund's £150million strategic initiative, Landscape Connections, will support long-term projects to boost nature recovery and connect more people to our most treasured landscapes.
- The Sustainable Development Fund supports strategic projects in the regions where SSE Renewables is operating. It allows the benefits of renewable energy developments to be accessible to a wider area and is directed to projects that can achieve significant impact.
- This £10 million community fund is open to projects that support residents in the community council areas which host SSE Renewables hydro assets.
- This page signposts a number of funding opportunities with a focus on community funds of various sizes.
- Participatory budgeting (PB) is a democratic process in which citizens decide directly how to spend part of a public budget. At least 1% of local authority budgets should be allocated via the PB process.
- Community benefits are a renewable industry led voluntary initiative to support communities – often in the form of funds. They offer an opportunity for communities to work with renewable energy businesses for the long-term benefit of the community. Local Authorities also manage funds for community benefits which are derived from payments made by developers. More information can be found on Local Authority websites.
- TCV produce a regular Funding Newsletter, aimed at community level projects. Some of this funding may facilitate project delivery at a local to regional scale.
- Aimed at larger projects (greater than 40ha) this fund aims to remove barriers to rewilding across Britain. Whether your site or project is in the early planning stages or looking to try out a new approach, you can apply.
- A major fund of up to £100,000 per year, awarded by Rewilding Britain to the project which shows the maximum potential to work with others to scale up rewilding on land and/or at sea. For sites of 1000ha+.
